My new job!

As most of you know, I have gotten myself a job!
A couple months ago I decided that I wanted to start working, but I didn't really want to work nights or weekends because I would never see Jeremy. So, the most natural thing that came to mind was to become a substitute teacher. That way, Jeremy and I would pretty much have the same hours, same schedule and what would be better than a job that had summers off?!
So I looked into what I had to do to accomplish this and it was quite simple! Since I have a college degree with enough credits, all I would have to do is complete a 2-day workshop. So, a couple weeks ago I did just that. Workshop done and paperwork in hand, I took Jeremy to work one day with plans to run errands and hand in my application to get put into the system as a substitute teacher. In doing so, I passed (as I do often) a little daycare that has always caught my eye. I had called them in the past, inquiring about any job opportunities but they didn't have any. As I drove by them that day I had another though that I should call them again, just to see. So I did - and they had a spot open - in their infant room. Uhm, what could be more perfect for me?! Nothing is the answer : ) So I asked for an interview and had high hopes that my husband would be in support of this. Of course he was. He could see the excitement building inside of me and really wants nothing more than for me to be happy and feel "fulfilled" (not that I'm not being his wife and homemaker). So, I had my interview and spent 10 minutes in the infant room to see if it was what I was expecting and something that interested me. Of course it was. So she asked me if I could come back the next day to work in there for an hour and get a feel for things. It was wonderful! They have a great system going and the most adorable little ones. And, for a perfect ending, I was offered the job right then and there! One concern that I had was working through the summer, while my husband was off. So, I sat down with my soon to be boss. In my first interview I told her how we were from NY and how Jeremy was a teacher, so I just voiced my "concern" that we have plans to go visit family in the summer and even Christmas time and how we have family come to visit. I didn't want to be that person that asked for time off if it was going to be frowned upon.  But just like the rest of the story, her answer was perfect. She was totally understanding and I can take time off as long as I give them a little heads up so that they can find people to cover me! You're looking at, or rather reading about a workin' woman! Monday through Friday from 1:30pm - 6:30pm! So, although I had other plans to become a substitute teacher, I am SO thankful that the Lord had me bring Jeremy to work that day, notice (again) that cute little daycare, put the thought in my head to call them and to have the perfect job waiting for me! God is good!
Wish me luck on my first day! :D

P.S. Marvelous Monday will become Terrific Tuesday : )

Wedding rings ~

Ever wonder why the wedding ring goes on the 4th finger?
The Chinese have given a beautiful and very convincing theory as to why. As the story goes...
Look at your left hand, the hand that your wedding ring goes on, and do you see your thumb? Well the thumb represents your parents. Now your index finger, or your first finger, represents your siblings. The middle finger, or third finger, represents yourself. The fourth finger represents your life partner. And your pinkie is to represent the children you will some day have.
Now, place both of your hands together and bend your middle fingers together, leaving the other fingers touching.

When your hands are as such do this:
Pull your thumbs apart. Your thumbs will open because you and your parents are not destined to be together forever. You will move on and have a family of your own. Now put your thumbs back together.
Repeat the same motion with your index fingers. Of course your index fingers will also separate because you are also not destined to be with your siblings for the rest of your life. They will move on and have families of their own. Now put them back together.
Now separate your pinkies. Of course these will also separate because your children will not be with you forever. They will grow up to have lives and families of their own as well. Now put them back together.
Now for your "ring" finger. Try separating them as you did with the other. Can't do it can you? That is because your life partner is the one to be with you for the rest of your life.

Franklin

On our way home from Charleston we turned the corner onto our road and I looked over next to the gas station and saw this HUGE turtle. I started yelling that dad had to turn around because there was a HUGE turtle in the parking lot that we had to go see.
When we got there - we found Franklin : )
A 60 year old rescue turtle, just out for show and his owner was taking donations.

I think that about sums up our visit with my parents - at least for pictures anyway : ) It was so great to have company and be surrounded with some love from home.

Dolphins

When we were in Charleston visiting the park, we got to see a TON of dolphins swimming out in the ocean. We really couldn't see them that well and I never knew what I was taking a picture of, but after sorting through at least 50 shots it ends up that I got some pretty good ones!

It was SO cool!
I could have stayed there all day watching them play : )

Visitors - Take 3

Thursday we went to our Outlet Mall and then after Jeremy got home we went and walked around our little town shops. Friday Jeremy took off from work and we were able to get our taxes done. Praise the Lord - and thank you Dad. Then we went and visited a couple stores that we didn't get to go to on Thursday and then went to a really fun place for dinner.

Love this one of them!

& this one of us! : )

This guy was super cool! He would tap on his guitar and record it and then loop it back as his background music while he played. Sometimes he would even sing into the guitar and record that to loop back as well. Great entertainment!

Saturday morning was a sad one - we got them all packed up and then drove separately to Cracker Barrel to eat breakfast and then say our goodbyes.

Summer is too far away!
I was so tired every night, I kept saying that I haven't been this busy since we've been here! Saturday and Sunday were sad, but Monday was even worse when Jeremy went off to work and I was sitting here with no company! We are looking forward to Jeremy's parents getting here in just a couple weeks! : )

(still more to come!)

Visitors - Take 2

While we were at the park we were trying to think of where to go next. From there mom could see a "point" of land in the distance and said she wanted to go there, so we got in the car and tried to figure out how to get there. I looked on the visitors guide map and found a destination that I thought would end up there. In the process, I finally got to go over the bridge that I have been wanting to cross! I was too busy taking pictures to really take it all in, but we found out that they light it up at night and there is a sidewalk on it, so some night Jeremy and I are going to go walk over it : )

View from the bridge...

Rich people and their big houses & boats LOL

The point that we ended up driving to was Fort Moultrie - I think Dad enjoyed it the most out of the 3 of us, but it was fun and interesting!

Ouch! LOL

Where the guns were...

Powder room

This little hole was on the outside of a huge room where they would keep their ammo and powder, dad said it was for a lantern to go and still be safe from the explosives....

Checkin' for bad guys : )

Where the flags were kept...

Big guns...

...need big bullets....

We've been hit!

The beach off of the fort where they would get attacked from...

Such a weird fine amount...

: )

more to come tomorrow! : )
