Mommyhood

One of my best mommy friends sent me this video and it took everything in me to not completely break down sobbing in front of the girls. But I had many tears streaming down my face. This is the absolute most perfect song of motherhood that I have ever heard. So for all my mommy friends out there, grab your tissues and take a listen. The lyrics are under the video because they are simply beautifully written.

Good night
Looks like we made it through the day
The moon sighs
And I know that we're okay
Sleep tight
I love to watch you drift away
I would come with you but on my knees I'll stay
Good night
Five little fingers holding mine
Take flight
Into your dreams and lullabies
There's nothing more that I can do
But just fall more in love with you
And ask the angel armies to stand by
When I leave the room
I'm gonna fail you
I already have
Ten thousand times
I will fall down flat
You'll have a seat in the front row
Of everything I don't know
And all I'm trying to be
You'll see
Good night
There will be storms that we come through
In time
We will slay dragons me and you
I'll always wanna hold you tight
Keep you safe with all my might
So I will leave Jesus next to you
When I leave the room
And you will run ahead
As if you know the way
And I will pray more
Then one should have to pray
There will be words we can't take back
Silences too
And I'll be on my knees
You'll see
One night
When I am old and unsteady
you'll want me to fight
But I'll tell you that i'm ready
When there's nothing left to do
I will still be loving you
Then you'll fold your fingers into mine
And I will let Jesus hold you tight
When I leave the room

Friends

Seth and I have had a couple friends join us during the week lately. Two of the girls I was watching before were in a bind and needed someone to watch them short term until Thanksgiving and they were willing to bring them to me, so we jumped on the opportunity! It has been a huge blessing. The Lord surely had this all planned out (surprise, surprise). Seth absolutely loves them and gets that whole face smile when he sees them. They, of course, can't get enough of him and are constantly asking if they can give him hugs and kisses. It has been really good for me to have them here with us. This OCD Mommy is learning a lot and having them here so I am not sitting alone in my thoughts has been just what I need. Although I look forward to my time alone with Seth again after Thanksgiving, I will also miss having them around. I'm sure there will be many play dates in our future!

His first thing in the morning snuggles in pj's are one of my favorites!

Dada time

Dada gave his first bottle the other night and he loved every second of it : ) Someone asked me the other day what my favorite part of being a mom so far was, other than the obvious - snuggles! I told them it was definitely breastfeeding. It's a very special time that I am so thankful Seth and I are able to have. I know if he had to be bottle fed or formula fed they would still be special moments, as I watched Jeremy and him have that the other night. I'm so glad that he will get this time with him every once in a while : ) After not having a bottle since he was a week old, I was a little nervous, but Seth acted like nothing was different!

& the milk coma...okay, Dada was just pretending : )

LOVE these boys!

Play time!

I have started working with Seth with holding onto toys. This of course ended in a shopping trip to get him a few more that are easier for him to hold onto, but - there's nothing wrong with anything that ends in a shopping trip for him : )

"Now what, Mom?"

"Mom, why is that weird puppy talking to me?"

He got two of these new "dumbbells" and a bunch of those rings that clip together - which he isn't quite sure what's so special about those just yet : )

Elephant tails are "nummy" : )

Simply can't get enough of this sweet boy! Love being his Mommy and watching him learn and grow!

Slow down!

I'm 2 months!!!

I can not believe that it's been two months since Seth entered the world and joined our little family. I miss that day and wish I could experience it over and over again, but each day with him brings more joy to me than I can even begin to describe. We went to the doctor this morning for his well visit. He weighs 10 pounds 15 ounces and is 23 inches long. His head is 15 and a half inches. The doctor was very impressed with how he looked and acted. He smiled the whole time and was such a good boy. She put him on his belly and she couldn't believe how well he picked himself up. Then he went and rolled over, almost falling off the table because she wasn't expecting it! She said he is about a month ahead of himself : ) He is sleeping between 7-8 hours at nighttime and usually only asks for his paccy a couple times. Mommy wants to know when she will sleep 7-8 hours at nighttime because she keeps waking up periodically to check on him! He has transitioned into his crib and is doing a great job in it! He kept sliding down in his bassinet. I would find him in the morning having his head where his butt should be and his legs straight up in the air. He likes to wiggle when he sleeps just like his Dada, so we knew it was time : ) He is still in newborn diapers and onesies, but is in 0-3 month sleepers because he too long for his newborn ones! As you have seen from my recent posts, he is smiling almost constantly. If he cries he is usually gassy, hungry or tired. He hardly ever likes to be laying in your lap anymore. He loves to stand up and look around, bounce on your knee or look over your shoulder (while trying to climb over you). He has rolled over a few times but nothing consistent yet. He loves the owls in his room and while getting his diaper changed he stares up at them, talking and smiling away. He is obsessed with his tongue. While awake, he is almost always sticking it in and out and rolling his hands all over it. We are still waiting for him to find his thumb but he likes to tuck it in his other fingers so he ends up just stuffing his whole fist in his mouth : ) We see a lot more of Mommy and her family in him these days than the pure Dada he was born with. It's incredible to watch him grow and change and become his own little person!

But enough of that - let's get to the cute stuff! Here's Mommy's amateur photo shoot!

I hope he knows just how MUCH he is loved <3

Mommy & Seth do a photoshoot...

Our little man - who is going to be TWO MONTHS in two days (!?!?!?!?!?!?!) - has the absolute best smile and shows it to us all day long. Yesterday he was SO full of it I just had to get the camera out. Normally when this happens, he shuts it right off, but he just kept putting it on for me!

I can't wait for his appointment Saturday to see how much he has grown in weight and length! Love this little man so much and I'm so thankful for his Dada who makes it possible for me to spend my days with him - the greatest blessing <3
