The latest & greatest!

So far this is my favorite project that i've done...
(in close second would probably come the 'T' that I did)

I used:
  • 2 20x30 foam core boards
  •  foam brushes
  •  mod podge
  •  adhesive squares
  •  duct tape
  •  hot glue gun
  •  pictures

Now my source did not do this because she cut all her pictures into 4x4 squares so her pictures did not overlap where the boards come together, but mine do - so I duct taped the back of the boards together...

& then applied some good ole' hot glue in the crack just to make sure it was secure.

 ta-da!

Now comes the fun part of laying your pictures out the way you want them. I had actually done this the day before and let me tell you - what a headache! I almost threw it and gave up. But, with the help from a friend I finally got it the way I wanted it. I figured on using a lot more pictures so I just picked my favorite ones.

After Jeremy got home and checked it out, this is what the final design would be....

Then I took the adhesive squares and put 4 on each photo to secure it in place...

...surrounded the board with paper to protect the floor...

 & prepared the mod podge!
(I have to admit I was a little scared!)

Then I just brushed it on! I dabbed the brush around the pictures to make sure that I got the edges real good and then once the row was done I just swiped the brush from top to bottom to make it look smooth.

 ...the drying process...

Two coats later -- & its done!!!

I absolutely LOVE it! & thanks to my sister-in-law and early birthday presents I have the perfect decoration to go right above it!

I've been asked where all of these fun crafts are going on the walls but I decided that it would be better for me to make them all, see what I have and then put them up so - they haven't gone anywhere yet LOL probably within the next week or so!

Sooo...what do you guys think?!

Craft Day Take 2 - with a little weekend fun!

More pinsperations put into action guys!
These were my projects from Friday, but my weekend was filled with enjoying my hubby being home so there was no blogging to be done : ) We went to the DMV to try and get everything finished, although YET again - we did not. I never knew this process would be so difficult. 7 trips later, maybe we will be done LOL But then we wandered over to the beach and enjoyed the cool, refreshing water, jumped some waves & soaked up the sun.

...is this a fishing boat? (Dad)

 : )

On sunday we ventured off to another church which was the best one so far, by far! The message was really really good and the music was our style! They did a few things differently than we were used to, which we really liked. We will be going again next Sunday so pray that the Lord shows us things to see if they are there or speaks to our hearts if this is where we belong.
Then we enjoyed watching our bills take another win on the football field!
(although I may have fallen asleep for the ending)
Now another week begins and my hubby is gone for 10 hours out of the day...so you get to here from me on here! The rest of my day will be filled with Christmas idea searching and sorting through my 600+ wedding photos to figure out which ones are for which projects & which ones I need to send out : )

But anywho - without further ado - here they are!

This is a project I had been wanting to do with the first letter of our last name...

....draw your letter...

...cut it out...

...& start wrapping!
It was a little tricky to do the edges and corners but I got the hang of it...

I LOVE the way it turned out! Very rustic : )

& here's the next one....Cherry Blossom Soda Bottle Art

...cut the poster board in half so that its more of an art piece than a poster...

...paint the 'tree' free hand...

& stamp away!

: ) i love it!

Alright, once again - what do you guys think?!
Do you think I should add some little green leaves to the tree?

Craft Day ~

So after my pinspiration blog and pay day, I was able to go out and get some necessary materials to start putting some of these thoughts into action! I was able to get the products for 6 projects for under $60! I was pretty proud of myself since I hate spending money on myself and this pretty much constitutes as that lol
After being distracted by my both sudden and strange incredible urge to Christmas shop, I started working away at my first project...

I decided to do the pencil and cork wreath first so Jeremy would have a surprise on the door when he got home, although he beat me to it : )

To start, I made a + sign with 4 pencils
and then added 3 more inbetween each of the divided sections...

...then I just kept added more pencils between the spaces!
At this point I contemplated stopping. Some of the spaces left to fill were really small and would be tight to get the pencils into, but my source used all the pencils to the right - so I decided to keep going.

...until it looked like this!

I glued the other cork board on and found
the heaviest object I could to weigh it down some : )

Then I made little letters out of scrapbook paper to give it some character...

 ....and ta-da!

Jeremy thought it would look better if we added something more to the cork board & my first thought was a Scripture verse - this is the one he picked : )

I also picked up this super cute little box at Target while I was out and about. I had wanted to find something to put on this shelf for all of our little trinkets and for Jeremy to throw his wallet and such when he gets home. So I picked out one of the frames I have yet to find a home for and put it all together!
now to pick the perfect wedding photo to go inside!

Alright, come on now - be honest - what do you think?! I'm not SUPER in love with it but I think it's cute. I think I might have liked it more if I stopped at the point I was going to instead of filling it in with more pencils, but who knows! My source also used circle cork boards, but I do like the square better. I also think it might look better if the pencils were shorter. The woman who lives in the apartment next to us stopped us in the hallway last night and asked if the pencil wreath was ours. She said her 7 year old had to stop and count all the pencils - so I guess I'll keep it just for him : )

Newlywed Life ~

So, I told you our story & I shared with you about our wonderfully fabulous wedding day (still so weird to say and think that!) but how are we doing now? Of course we are as happy as can be and doing fabulous! : ) I know, I know - you're all thinking "you've only been married a little over a month, give it time..." but I'm convinced, things will stay like this for quuuuuite some time : ) Want a little bit of ooey gooey? I absolutely love how he can make me smile at any moment, sometimes for no apparent reason and even when I don't want to! I fall more in love with him every day and love being his wife. My favorite part so far are the memories we are making - what an adventure to look back on! Also, as much as i love cooking with him by my side, when he has a late night or has had a rough day - I love cooking for him <---makes me feel like a "good wife" : )

Okay, okay, enough of that, here's a look into our lives:
Jeremy is gone from around 6:50am-5:30pm during the week. School days down here go from 8:30-4:30! It's crazy. He is doing well. It was cool to see him go from his first week when he came home looking exhausted and confused to two weeks in when he'd come home with a smile on his face. Now, some days are smiles, some are frustration. BUT - he is a fabulous teacher & i'm not just being biased. He is making good relationships with his kids and finding ways to get through to them. The schools down here don't have unions so not only is job security a little frightening but things are also pretty much run by the district - even how you teach. He doesn't get much freedom, which isn't his favorite. Still, so very proud : ) We definitely enjoy our weekends, although they take forever to come and go by so fast!
I spend my days doing the typical housewife duties. My pinsperations keep me busy on days that I don't have other things to do! I love making thoughts into physical pieces and then help them find their home on one of our walls. Lately I have been in a Christmas mood (this is just about the time i get itching to shop!) & have been thinking of ideas for everyone and even started buying some! I have looked into a few jobs and ideas that I have but nothing that has stuck out to me. I don't really feel like I should be working right now & Jeremy likes me being here so for now, this is my place : )

South Carolina is very exciting for us. It's so big! We have about 5 different grocery stores (that I know about) and 2 of them have 3 different store locations in a 10 mile radius. Not to mention Walmart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot, and every other big & small store you can think of right down the street! & if we don't have it we are surrounded by cities that do! But, having said that - going 2 miles can take a half an hour around here, too, so i'm glad things aren't too far away! We have had a lot of fun exploring, trying new restaurants and fun things to do. Last Saturday we went to an aquarium in North Charleston and then out for bowling. We absolutely love the beach! We've only been there twice but have found our favorite spot to go already : ) Its a bit farther off from the big crowd and much easier to just relax and have fun (AKA no lifeguards) We usually try a new restaurant every weekend. We are trying to weed out the bad ones for when visitors come : ) we found our ice cream spot though ~ yum! We also have become members at the YMCA and usually go the gym 3 times a week! Jeremy has shown me how to use other things that just the treadmill : )
did you notice how I put the gym right after the fact that we found yummy ice cream? hehehe
Church has been very frustrating for us. We have gone to a different one every week (minus last week due to sickness) and still nothing. I have to say i'm really surprised. I figured being the south we would have trouble picking a church, not finding one. Granted we have at least a hundred options, but I don't think it's too much to ask for a Pastor to at least open up his Bible and read/teach some scripture during his message, right? Sigh* I could rant all day about this hahaha I did some searching the other day and have a few more picked out - one that looks like it could be promising, but this time i'm not getting my hopes up!
Unfortunately we are kind of waiting for a church to be able to find some friends as well. Jeremy likes some of the people he works with but says not really to do anything after school with. Although, one of them mentioned that they should go out to dinner with their spouses sometime so that would be fun. Our apartment complex is kinda funny. I think maybe 5 people have said hello to us, but thats as far as it goes! I guess thats normal for an apartment complex, but i'm used to someone moving in next door and you bring them cookies! LOL Don't get me wrong, we love spending time together - but it would be nice to go out on a friday night with a couple of friends, hit a movie, go to the beach, etc.

All in due time God's time, I suppose! : )
We miss you all, a lot!

Pinspiration

So, I totally can not take credit for this idea - my sister in law posted the exact same theme only a couple of hours ago & I had been wondering what to blog about next and well, here you go! I have totally become obsessed with Pinterest, which I think is my sister's fault (boy she gets be addicted to a lot of things LOL) But, they have made dinner a bit more delicious in the Thomas household and the walls will be quite fashionable when I get around to all of the projects I want to do!

Here are some projects that I have already done....

This mirror was super cute when I first made it but now it has bowed so bad that I have to take it down - you see 9 different pictures when you look at it! LOL

The one on the left still has to get hung up but the other one has already gotten some use out of it : )

& here are my next pinspirations!

This one I already have the supplies for, I just need to put it all together and hang it up!

I'm super excited to do this one! I think i'm going to use a big and small bottle and do light and dark pink!

Once my wedding pictures come in, i'm going to be doing this project with some of them : )

This one of course will be a 'T' and i'm thinking red yarn...

I'd been looking at wreaths to make for our door and Jeremy really liked this idea...
& seeing that he's a teacher, I thought it was perfect!

Not sure what mine will say yet, but I love this idea!

Some fall decor - even though i'm not sure how "fall" it gets here LOL

This is for our first dance - write the lyrics on the frame!

& this one is just super cool : )

The end : ) I can't wait to put it all together!
