Back when we first found out we were pregnant with Lucas and his due date was April, we decided we wouldn't be making a trip to New York this summer. We wanted time to enjoy the transition, enjoy Jeremy's time off without being rushed between families and the hassle of traveling. But when we found out Jeremy's brother who we hadn't seen in almost 2 years was going to be making the trip, we decided we needed to do it as well so that we could all be together.
We were graciously given help to purchase flights, which made the trip a million times better. There are definitely pros and cons to flying and driving (flying mostly being the restricted packing), but I think it worked out the best for this trip. We had a few small hiccups - mostly getting Seth's carseat on the planes - but all in all it went very smooth and both boys were rock stars! Seth cheered during takeoff and there were no major meltdowns or ear pain!
My dad happened to be off, so my parents were picking us up. Once we landed, we had plans to head to my sister's house for a little visit. Her family was headed to KY for the weekend for a wedding, so the day we were getting in was our only chance to see them and since they were somewhat on the way home from the airport it was going to work perfectly! As an added bonus, my brother was going to make the trip with my niece and nephew as well! My sister-in-law was expecting their 3rd child any day, so she sadly wasn't able to make the trip and was missed greatly, but I was really excited to see everyone else and thankful for those willing to travel! Once we approached the gate, I could see my tall Dad standing there waiting for us and when I looked to the right of him I could see my little Mom flailing her arms around to get our attention : ) It was a sweet reunion! And then just a few second later, the rest of my family jumped out from behind the wall! My sister, brother and their crews had made the trip to the airport as well to surprise us! It was awesome and I may or may not have teared up : ) After a quick nursing session for Lucas, we headed back to my sisters house - ate pizza and had a great time together!
(I stole these from my sister)
My brother decided their tree needed trimming...
Seth would be the blur in the picture above LOL
