A week before Florence was supposed to make landfall I first heard about her. I instantly had a bad feeling and told Jeremy I wanted to get prepared before things got crazy. We went shopping that night and restocked our emergency bin. We followed her for the next few days. That one model kept bringing her to us. We are inland quite a bit so flooding isn't a major concern for us. Our road is slightly uphill and our driveway is a pretty decent incline. We also have a huge trench in the backyard for water to go to. But, we have a ginormous tree in the front yard that always makes me nervous when a storm comes to town. Long story short we decided to leave town because of that tree on Wednesday last week. We had a few different options as to where to go, but we ended up landing in Ohio with Jeremy's college roommate. They had just had a baby a few days before and they got a camper set up in their driveway for us. It was super nice to have our own space, let the kids run free in the yard but still get to love on them and their new bundle!
They are already rocking their parenthood journey. Before we left, Seth asked to hold baby Gunner. When we were pulling away I told Seth that him and Gunner would have so much fun when he got older and could run around with him. The next 15 minutes we heard about how Gunner was going to come to the Zoo with us...........

Speaking of the Zoo! We had been talking about going to the Cincinnati Zoo since Seth learned they had a hippo, polar bear and rhino. Since we were so close and we desperately needed to get away and do something amidst the crazy that had been thrown at us, we decided we couldn't pass up the chance. Well, Jeremy decided that - I quickly jumped on board when he told me we could get in for 50% off because of our membership to our zoo! So $35 gave us a day full of excitement and a lifetime of memories! It was hot so the animals weren't very active, but they were all out for us to see! It was such a huge place - if we ever go back I think we will take 2 days to get through it!
It was just what we all needed!

We got home yesterday and all is well at the house. The ginormous tree has a pretty good bend to it which made me gasp when we came around the corner. Thank you Lord for allowing it to bend and preventing it from snapping. My heart goes out to those who are suffering in NC.......
