I can't believe my little boy is already 5 months old. I start every monthly update like that, don't I? Well, every month that comes and goes is harder to believe. He is almost a half a year and I know he will be a year old before I know it, too. It's crazy to think it's been 5 months since we brought him into this world. Crazy to think all of the things he has learned and how much he has grown and changed and become his own little person! We love him more and more each and every day. Every night before we fall asleep we both watch him on the monitor and ask if we can wake him up, just for 5 minutes : )
As I've mentioned a couple times, we haven't gotten to his monthly pictures yet, but they are coming I promise. Next week probably. Here's a little update on how he is growing and learning though!
He has officially found both his hands and his feet. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen when he realizes he has a hand. He just stares at it and twists it around. He thinks Mommy and Dada's hands are pretty cool as well. Of course, after staring at them (his or ours) for a few minutes they get shoved right into his mouth. He has also started sucking his thumb! Did I already mention something being the cutest thing I've ever seen? Okay, I guess it's just him in general : ) He more so gnaws on it, but he sucks it pretty regularly as well. Still enjoys his other two fingers and his paccy, though. Speaking of his paccy, his smart little self can take it out of and put it back in his mouth. I still don't know how he does it. I've seen him take it out and drop it, but somehow when he is in bed it will magically appear back in his mouth. And speaking of his bed, he has started to sleep on his side and his back. He almost instantly rolls to his side when we lay him down. That usually ends up with him going to his back. Sometimes we have to go in and flip him back over, but I have found him fall asleep on his back a few times as well. He is very particular about his sleep. He has always loved his sleep and he needs to get a good amount of it, otherwise you know something is wrong. He got croup the week after Thanksgiving and I tried putting a rolled up blanket under his sheet to elevate his head to help with the congestion and he wasn't having that. Then I tried to put a blanket under his whole mattress to elevate the head and it took me a few days to realize he hated that as well. Little stinker wants his bed just so! He is growing hair. Mommy and Dada aren't sure how they feel about this. I can't even picture him with a head full of hair. I've gotten used to and love his little bald head. It's still very hard to see, we think it's going to be blonde, but when he has bed head you can see it and if you rub the top of his head you can feel it. He'll be starting food shortly so that will be another adventure for him. He is very curious about it whenever we are eating or have a cup. I'm so excited to give him his first bite - we are planning on doing it when we are in NY for Christmas : ) I think Gramma has planned a cookie for him, but we will see about that hahaha I think the last update I have for him is how smart he has gotten. He can now pick up toys while he is laying on his back AND his belly. It is so amazing to watch his little brain at work and figuring out how to make 'this' or 'that' happen!
Since no blog is complete without a picture, here are some candid shots of him recently : )
He has a recent obsession with being upside down...

"Ooooh, what's that?!"
LOVES it when Dada comes home!
Sweet, sweets!
