Our Thanksgiving "Weekend"

We were supposed to have the whole week off with Dada, but one hurricane or another messed that up as usual. I kept thinking he had to work Monday-Wednesday though so when Tuesday afternoon rolled around we were all pretty happy that vacation had started! Wednesday night Momma got a night off and enjoyed some delicious sushi with a sweet friend. Then we had a simple, quiet Thanksgiving just the 4 of us - but pretty perfect none-the-less!

The turkey was a bit chaotic this year. I woke up and read the directions on the turkey bag, figured out the timing and went about our day. When it came time to prep the bird I found there were directions inside of it which had the cooking time almost doubled. Turns out, the turkey bag was right so I'm glad I checked it when I put the stuffing in!

Turkey, Stuffing, rolls, gravy, a new creamed corn recipe (which was disgusting), olives and cranberry sauce!

No pie lovers around here.....

Thanksgiving isn't complete without football.....

Friday morning we headed off to the children's museum! I love it when we go and they have changed things up!

Last year with our Thanksgiving leftovers, we made waffles out of stuffing and then topped it with turkey gravy. We were a little disappointed in them, so this year we tried something else...

They were TO DIE FOR and Jeremy has now decided that anything we have leftovers of should get put into an egg roll LOL

Saturday night we did a movie and popcorn. Apparently it's the first time we've done real popcorn for them. Lucas starred at his bowl and Seth eating for a good 45 minutes before he took a bite (which for anyone who knows him knows how odd that is)

Jeremy and I sat and watched them instead of the movie.
Love these crazy, sweet boys!!!
(especially when Daddy is home to help lighten the load LOL)

A good weekend....

I took the whole day off last Friday. No computer, took Facebook messenger off my phone, everything. It was a much needed break from work and felt SO good. The boys and I had a couple errands to run and we stopped to get a special lunch on the way home.
(Don't let his fist full of fries deceive you - he doesn't eat them)

Friday night Jeremy and I had a date...we realized we hadn't been on one since July...so, much needed! A quiet, kid-less dinner is all I need and we whole heartedly enjoyed stuffing our face with nachos, fried pickles and chicken wings without any little fingers or whining!

Seth wasn't super thrilled about us leaving the house. We always wait until they are in bed and now that he isn't napping he falls asleep in less than 5 minutes, but we always tell him just in case the sitter needs to go in there for whatever reason. He didn't take the news well, so we told him we would do something special on Saturday all together.

Off to the playground under "my bridge"! And to make things extra special, we got a clearance box of Halloween cookies for $0.75 that we brought for snack time!

Family time is the best time! And it's much more enjoyable to take these boys where they are the most happy - OUTSIDE - now that we are getting fall weather.

Lucas is 18 months

This is incredibly late, but we were waiting for his doctor to come back from maternity leave before we did his 18 month well visit.

He weighed in at 27lbs 12.5oz
(was 25lbs 10oz)

and is 32.75 inches tall!
(was 31.5)

He's at the stage where he just looks at you and smiles when you tell him to stop something. Jeremy reminded me that Seth did this too and that I will survive......

He is 200% independent! He doesn't want help eating, he doesn't want to hold your hand while walking, he doesn't you to carry him - just don't touch him. He's got it all under control.

Among animal sounds he can say "woah" "yay" "mama" "dada" "hippo" "sorry" and "hi" - we are working on "all done" "thank you" and "please".

Most of the time him and Seth are best buds, but sharing and always wanting what the other one has can make life a whiny hot mess sometimes! We are also always copying exactly what big brother does. Sometimes this ends badly. Life is an adventure. The hours are long but the days are fast. Before I know it we'll be planning birthday #2......ahhhh!

October

I don't have a ton of pictures from October. I think the zoo was the highlight of our month that I shared with you guys earlier! We have been super busy, but mostly just with the day-to-day tasks!

Seth is no longer napping, but sometimes it catches up with him...

He's also obsessed with taking pictures!

And it ended with our traditional night-in Halloween 'celebration'.....

November is absolutely INSANE with my book business. We will also be busy celebrating Thanksgiving and planning for our first solo Christmas!

Let the holiday festivities begin!
