Our February & March.....

Man the blog has gotten away from me (sorry Dad). If we're being really honest though, LIFE has gotten away from me the past couple of months.

So let's back it up a bit. I can't believe I'm gonna say this but the boys enjoyed their FIRST s'mores in February. Having cozy fires in our house is one of my favorites and for the last one of the season we did it up big!

Jeremy and I got a "weekend away" of sorts. Our church put on a marriage conference that included childcare. So for Friday night & Saturday morning, we got to spend time together, reflect on our marriage and look towards the future.

We figured we might as well make a whole weekend out of it and included an in-home date night, too.....

The boys are growing so much, so fast. This probably isn't the best time for me to be writing this blog since next weekend is Lucas' second birthday.....I'm just going to move right along before my keys get wet.....

Seth has enjoyed doing exercises with Mommy.....

And we've had some fun with Facebook filters :)

Mommy got a girls night out in March and enjoyed dinner and a concert complete with Micah Tyler, Crowder and Mercy Me.
It was absolutely incredible.....

Our March ended with a trip up to NY. Jeremy has had quite a few skype interviews with different schools and when 2 of them wanted a second interview in person, knowing his spring break was coming up, we went ahead and planned the trip. He ended up getting 4 interviews while we were there and he walked away with 2 job offers. We are still in the deciding, praying and struggling stage and would appreciate any and all prayers as we try to make the best decision for our family. 

April is a big month for us! 

Birthdays for Lucas and Jeremy, Easter....and a big decision! 

2 surgeries down.....

This not so little nugget isn't even 4 yet and he's already been put to sleep twice in his life. This time it was to finally get his adenoids taken out, tubes put in his ears and since he was asleep, they went ahead and did a blood draw allergy test as well. I say "finally", because we have been seeing an ENT for issues since he was a year and half. Allergy meds worked temporarily but we reached the point where we didn't want to keep trying new meds when we are hopeful that this would solve it all. 

We waited until the night before to explain to him what was going to happen. Since we had been to the doctor so many times, we told him we were going to see the Dr again and that he was going to take a little rest while they fixed his ears. One of his Aunt's sent him a new giraffe snuggy to help make him brave and it has certainly come in handy. We gave that to him the night before as well.....

It came with us the next morning.....

And they thankfully let him carry it off with him.....as he walked down the hallway with a complete stranger, never looking back (okay, okay, I teared up at this moment - but held it together otherwise)

Until they came to get us when he was waking up that is. Walking in to your child tossing and turning, confused and delirious, whining and crying - break my heart. We cried together as I tried to listen to everything the doctor said. Thankfully, once I got Seth calm, the nurse re-explained it all. Bottom line, everything went as well as it could have! They peaked at his tonsils which looked fine, but as expected his adenoids were ginormous. Tubes went in and we are still waiting to hear on the allergy test. So we headed out to pick up Lucas from a dear friend who let us drop him off at 6am (and who he went to with open arms) so we could get snuggled in at home for a few days of rest.

He lived off of popsicles and juice that day and then FINALLY took a good rest (Mommy may have, too).  

Lucas thought Seth was getting too much attention so he decided to cut two molars (and then Daddy got a cold, too - we had quite the time!)

Friends ordered us pizza, because that makes EVERYTHING better!

And then life went back to normal and everyone was feeling better LOL

Truly our only issue after day 1 was the dang ear drops. An anti-inflammatory and antibiotic to help the incisions and tube placement. Seth is not used to things going in his ears (and we all know how weird it can feel) but pair that with incisions which then burn and sting....you can all imagine the party that was. We had to do it twice a day, each time he would cry and beg us not to. When I told him that if we don't do it we would have to go back to the doctor...he said he wanted to go back to the doctor (that backfired). But we made it through and those dang drops ended up just where they belong.....in the trash next to a shitty diaper!

We are praying that this will be the end of his struggles so that we never have to deal with anything again (most importantly, NO MORE DROPS). We have a follow up appointment in a few weeks and speech resumes tomorrow. I think we are all anxious to see if this will effect his progress at all (in a good way) once his healing finishes! Thank you to everyone who sent love, prayers and goodies to us in the past week! 

An update on life....

This August we will have been in South Carolina for 7 years. Time really does fly when you're having fun :) Moving here the day after we got married was the best thing for us. It ensured that we were depending on each other and building our life and our marriage. We knew our family would be there for us in a heartbeat if we needed them (and they have been MANY times), but not having them right next door made us get through a lot, learn a lot and grow a lot - together! We have so enjoyed our time here. Being our family. Having our space, peace and quiet. But it is SO hard to be SO far away from family. Holidays and special occasions can be lonely. A boring week for this stay-at-home mom can be long.

So, after teaching here for 7 years, Jeremy is in the search of a job in New York State. As much as we love it here, as GREAT as his job is, we have two boys that need to see their cousins and grandparents, aunts and uncles, more than one or two times a year. Plus, the summers here y'all.....I'll take a snowstorm any day (remind me I said this, okay?)

We'd love for you guys to pray for us in this search. We have no clue where in NYS, although we have our ideas. This is making it really hard for me. If you know me, you know I love to make a plan. But I can't make a plan when I don't know where. I can't look at schools or neighborhoods or houses. I'm just sitting here....waiting.....patiently? It really all boils down to the job. Jeremy has a really great thing here, so he's gonna be super picky about what he finds. But we know he is qualified and needed, so we have no doubt the right job is there if we are meant to go. The application process has begun! So now we sit and wait.....

An update on the boys....

It's been so long since I did a post just on them, how they are doing and what they are like these days. Seems crazy since I used to do monthly posts for each of them!

My oh my how this is true for Motherhood. It is so incredibly hard to believe that Lucas is turning 2 and Seth 4. But then some weeks feel like they take a year to go by. 

Seth has grown into a little man. He is tall and skinny. His favorite thing for breakfast is a granola bar of some sort. For lunch he would live off of PB&J or cheese quesadillas (AKA Cheese pizza). Dinner time is more picky. Veggies and meat are hit or miss. He either loves them and cleans his plate or hates them and has one 'no thank you' bite. And just because he loved it yesterday doesn't mean he will today! He still loves his stories and being outside. Paw Patrol, animals and Wild Kratts rock his world. When Lucas takes his rest, he has some alone time to play and then he gets to have screen time. He is obsessed with watching Schleich toy videos. He has such a huge heart and is very sensitive. Especially to movies, or anything on TV for that matter - even commercials. If there is a weird face or suspenseful music he runs and hides until we tell him that it's okay. He is also the cutest and best little dancer I've ever seen. Therapy is going super well. He is conquering new sounds and learning new words every day. We all couldn't be more proud - including him!

Lucas is our sour patch kid. In one moment, when you tell him to do something (or not to) he will give you that look and completely ignore you. And in the next moment he wants unlimited snuggles and kisses. He is a better eater than Seth but can still be picky. He is in the no protein stage which I remember Seth doing. Carbs and certain veggies are his jam. He doesn't like hotdogs and chicken nuggets. He is very independent, plays well on his own and is obsessed with stories and being outside. He is terrified of the dark. At night, he can not go by our dining room window to pick up toys until we shut the curtain. I don't know if it's his reflection that freaks him out or just the fact that he can't see what is out there. He is also saying new words every day. Seth loves to tell him to say something and have Lucas repeat it - of course, neither one of them say it perfect, but that's okay! He loves to be just like Seth and has even started sitting on the potty because of this. He has already peed and pooped on it! He has gotten 5 teeth since Christmas and has handled that like a champ. Either both our boys have been great teethers or amber necklaces truly work!

Love these boys more than life itself! They keep me on my toes and some days I'm counting down to bedtime, but I wouldn't change one thing!

Our January

Is it seriously February of 2019 already?! Sheesh...

Our month was pretty normal! Jeremy and I enjoyed a date night and got a front row show to the chefs! It was an awesome experience and since we were there, we decided to go all in and enjoy a charcuterie plate! Well, two actually hahaha Let's just say they are for delicate eaters!
