Every summer is pretty great. Last summer was even better when Seth came into the world, but nothing could quite prepare us for how amazing this summer was going to be with our little boy! Here are some pictures of what we've been up to!
Hide & go seek is a daily routine for Seth and Dada....
A trip to the aquarium with a picnic in the park....
He had to walk the whole thing because let's be honest, strollers are for babies - which he clearly is not anymore.
We met up with some friends! I think Seth and Olivia were more taken with each other than the fish : )
Well here we are, just one month before our baby turns a year old. I've said it before and I'll say it again - HOW?! Everyone tells you that time flies but there is no way of comprehending just how quickly it does. Friends of ours just had a baby and we went over and brought them dinner. Their son weighed 7lbs 9oz (bigger than Seth was) and he felt like a feather. I can't remember even the slightest little bit Seth ever being that small and it breaks my heart! Gah! Being a Mommy is hard sometimes, in good ways and bad.
Our little man is all over the place. He started walking on Mother's Day and in less than a week he was acting like he had been doing it his whole life. He is practically running now. He is his own little person and into everything. He loves to push his tractor around the living room. Pretty much the cutest thing I've ever seen (how many times have I said that in the past 11 months?) He is the best little peek-a-booer. He is obsessed with things that are stacked or balanced. He must knock them over and then works so hard to get them stacked back up. But, he gets very frustrated when things are not able to be stacked on top of each other. He has recently started loving his drums, too - since he is obsessed with smacking his high chair tray. Nothing should be neatly put away and everything needs to be thrown or pushed onto the floor. Let's just say he is 100% boy.
He says Da-da, Na-na (mama), clicks his tongue and understands 'walk', 'outside', 'puppy' and 'eat' among other things. He is eating everything we do and drinking milk now. He loves to hold onto his fork while I stab food and then put it into his mouth all by himself. He loves thinking he is big stuff - which is constantly. The other day he put his triangle shape into the triangle hole. Probably a pure coincidence but I freaked out hahaha He still grunts at everything, bath time and being outside are still his favorite. I found his 5th tooth yesterday, they are harder to see now that they aren't right in the front. My baby sure isn't a baby anymore! He had his first ear infection last week. I hate him being sick but I love getting some snuggles. It feels good to be needed as he grows older and more independent.
Sitting still is his least favorite thing to do, so pictures become super fun - but Dada helped us get some!
That face! <3
Now I'm off to mail his birthday party invites.....
Yesterday we got a pretty good rain storm. Seth and I had to run to the store for a few things and I got soaked trying to prevent him from doing so. On the drive home I thought, ya know - he would LOVE this! So, the groceries got unloaded and out we went!
He had a blast. We walked all the way down the street playing in every puddle along the way, but he was quite mesmerized by the waterfall and puddle right outside the door.
Our 3-day weekend was both good and bad. Having 3 days with Dada home is always happily welcomed, but it rained for those 3 days, so our little outside lover got a bit stir crazy at times. We got creative with laundry basket rides and such though! Just having Dada home made him happy. I told Jeremy that although he is happy during the day with just me, I can see a difference in him when he is home. Summer is going to be amazing!
Jeremy and I had great evenings together. Full of movies, late night snacks, playing Wheel of Fortune and enjoying our time : ) It's always hard when "Monday" comes back around, but there's just 3 more days of school!!! Seth is either fighting a little bug or teething, so we are snuggled up today with Daniel Tiger, I love Lucy, puppy & paccy and waiting for Dada to get back!
5 years ago today my husband took me out on our first date. We had pizza and I remember ordering a soda which I never do. So he in turn ordered one as well, which he never does. After dinner we walked around town for hours, talking, laughing and planning our next date. If you had asked me then if my life would look like this in 5 years I would have highly doubted it.
Yesterday Jeremy "let" me go shopping for a couple hours while Seth napped. Seth has hit the age where we don't have many clothes in his size, so I headed off to our used children's clothes store to get him a few things and then I went to Old Navy to find a few summer items for myself. It was nice to spend some time alone. On my way home I heard this song. It's been a favorite ever since my Mom made me listen to it a couple months ago, but it hit something inside of me yesterday. When the song ended, I switched the station and there it was again - okay, God.
I couldn't fight the tears. I cranked the volume and sang as loud as I could there in the car, all alone. My life hasn't gone exactly the way I had imagined it would. I'm sure my parents would agree to that. I had many mountains, valleys and more bumps than I can count. And I've always wondered why I did the things I did and why God allowed me to go through everything. So, how did I end up here? It hits me often, while watching Seth play or hearing my husband cook breakfast. I don't deserve any of this. Thinking back to our first date and all that I hoped and prayed it would become.....to now have all of that plus SO much more (like the cutest, sweetest little boy I've ever laid eyes on) - it brings tears to my eyes and gives me an absolutely overwhelming feeling inside.
It wasn't a huge surprise when he came, but it was a surprise a few weeks ago while skyping with my parents and my Dad asked what our plans were for this past weekend. He was being sent to Georgia for some training and wanted to drive up and see us! Luckily, we had no plans (and even if we did they would have been canceled)! He got to see our house and see Seth walking!!
A trip to the aquarium made our Saturday complete!
We even got to play cards - with my Mom - and we won! hahaha
It was bittersweet to not have my Mom here too, but we had a blast and I'm so thankful that we were able to have this time with him! It will help our 7 week wait to be in NY! Thanks for coming, Dad : )
