So we left for NY the Friday before Christmas around 6:15pm after we both got off of work and packed up the car. I started us out until it got to be too dark and then Jeremy took over for the night. I picked back up the next morning when we were in PA and we finally arrived to our destination Saturday around 2pm....20 hours later! We prolonged our trip a little by meeting up with Jeremy's parents in Syracuse. They were there to pick up Jeremy's brother and his wife, so we met for a quick bite to eat, picked them up at the airport together and then continued on our way. There was an ice storm in brew, so it was nice to be able to follow Jeremy's dad with his yellow light flashing on his truck and knowing if we were to go off the road he would be right there!
BUT
The biggest reason our arrival time got delayed...
...was a friendly little deer (actually, from what I remember he was quite large)
I was driving in PA, carefully due to all of the deer signs when I saw the car in front of me swerve. Before I could finish my thought of "hm, I wonder why he just did that", there was a deer lying in the middle of the road that I completely ran over. I'm thankful that I probably put him out of his misery, but I was sick over it for hours! It took us a little while to realize what had happened - my husband longer than me since he continued to SNORE through the whole thing!!!!! LOL At first we thought there was no damage but then as I started to drive again we heard the noise that we thought was a flat tire - our BRAND NEW tires! So we got out ready to see the horror, but it was just a piece of plastic that had ripped off that was dragging....so, we drove off in search of some place that either sold something to cut it off or tape it up!

Today we are thankful for great insurance that doesn't care that we didn't report it to the cops and who are helping us fix all the damage! We weren't going to worry about it at first because it just looked like a few minor cosmetic issues, but then we noticed that when we go straight down the road, the steering wheel isn't straight, and it also started to make some loud noise, so - to the shop she went : )
I hope you all avoided any unnecessary excitement over the holidays!!!
